Key Courses to Help You Earn Your Residential Journeyman License
Residential Journeyman electrician licenses in Utah allow professionals to work on electrical systems in homes, ensuring safe and reliable installations. This license requires knowledge, training, and passing an exam to meet state standards. To be eligible to test for a Residential Journeyman Exam, the following is required:
- Completion of a 2-year (288 classroom hours) electrical apprenticeship education program.
- 4,000 hours as a licensed Apprentice Electrician working under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician.
- Pass the Residential Journeyman Electrician Code, Theory, and Practical exams.

- 8,000 hours of licensed electrical experience working under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician.

If you would prefer, all of the above courses are included in an electrician program, which provides the 288 hours of education required to sit for the Journeyman Exam. Students will still need to complete the required work hours in the field before they can sit for the exam. The program includes 45 hours of instruction in each of the listed courses and costs $2250.
